Before enrolling in the HLTAID009 course, participants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Physical CPR Ability: You must be capable of performing chest compressions, rescue breaths, and using AED equipment. This is essential to ensure you can respond effectively in emergencies.
- Online Access: Participants must have access to the internet to complete the online learning modules before the face-to-face practical assessment.
- Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN): If needed, support for LLN will be provided to ensure all participants can successfully complete the course.
- Unique Student Identifier (USI): You will need a valid USI, which can be obtained from the Australian Government website if you don't already have one.
We offer multiple delivery options to suit different learning preferences:
- Blended Learning: This includes online pre-learning followed by a face-to-face practical session. The online components can be completed at your own pace, providing flexibility to fit the course around your schedule. The practical session ensures you gain hands-on experience under the guidance of an expert.
- Face-to-Face Learning: For those who prefer in-person learning, we offer instructor-led sessions where you will practice CPR, AED usage, and other essential first aid skills in a group setting.
- Face-to-Face Duration: The face-to-face practical session will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Online Learning & Practical Assessment: The online components take about 45 minutes to complete at your own pace. Following that, the practical assessment will be conducted in-person, typically taking about 30–45 minutes.
- Structure: The online assessment includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs), fill-in-the-blanks, and sequencing exercises, which are all designed to help you test your understanding of the CPR techniques and first aid procedures you’ll learn.
- Learning Management System (LMS): The online modules are accessible through our LMS platform, which provides easy navigation and feedback on your progress.
- Pre-Learning Modules: All students are required to complete the online learning portion before attending the face-to-face session. This allows you to work at your own pace and ensures you are well-prepared for the practical assessment.
- Hands-on Learning: The practical assessment involves applying CPR techniques in real-life scenarios to demonstrate your ability to act effectively in emergencies.
- Skills Checklist: You will be assessed using a skills checklist that covers all critical actions such as chest compressions, rescue breathing, and AED operation. This ensures that you are competent and confident in your ability to handle real emergencies.
- Scenario-Based: The practical session is scenario-based, meaning you'll practice CPR on manikins in conditions that closely simulate actual emergencies.
- CPR Certification Validity: Upon successful completion of the course, your CPR certification will be valid for 12 months. This certification is often required for workplaces such as childcare, healthcare, construction, and more.
- Renewal: It is recommended that CPR certificates be renewed annually to maintain the most up-to-date knowledge and skills. We offer convenient refresher courses to help you keep your certification current and ensure you are prepared for any emergency.
